Description
The Savage Axis 2 Pro is a bolt action rifle in 6.5mm Creedmoor with a 20″ barrel, a 1:10 twist and 4-round capacity plus one chambered.
This is a left-hand action: the bolt handle and ejection port are on the left side, laid out for a left-handed shooter. This barrel length is the usual compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge’s velocity while still being manageable to carry all day, and short enough that a suppressor on the end does not make it unwieldy. That is slower than the usual twist for this cartridge, so it favors lighter bullets; very heavy projectiles may not stabilize. It ships without iron sights, so plan on an optic and a way to mount it: a red dot or holographic sits on a rail, a scope needs rings and a base, and a rifle with neither needs a mount first.
The 6.5mm Creedmoor is commonly chosen for long-range target shooting and deer-sized game. It became the default precision cartridge because it delivers high-BC bullets with modest recoil and good barrel life.
