SAVAGE AXIS II PRECISION 223 – 22″ HB MDT CHASSIS OD

Description

The Savage Axis II Precision is a bolt action rifle in .223 REM/5.56 NATO with a 22" barrel, a 1:9 twist and 10-round capacity.

This barrel length is the usual compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while still being manageable to carry all day, and short enough that a suppressor on the end does not make it unwieldy. That is slower than the usual twist for this cartridge, so it favors lighter bullets; very heavy projectiles may not stabilize. It ships without iron sights, so plan on an optic and a way to mount it: a red dot or holographic sits on a rail, a scope needs rings and a base, and a rifle with neither needs a mount first.

The .223 REM is commonly chosen for varmints, predators and target work. Cheap, widely available and light on recoil, which makes it an easy cartridge to shoot well.
