Description
The Spyderco Byrd Meadowlark 2 folder features a 2.94" 8Cr13MoV stainless blade, clip point, serrated edge, stainless handle.
The blade is 8Cr13MoV SS, a budget-friendly Chinese stainless that sharpens easily and resists rust well, though it needs touching up more often than premium steels. A serrated edge bites into rope, webbing and fibrous material far better than a plain edge, and stays aggressive long after a plain edge has dulled. Stainless scales are durable and easy to clean, though heavier than polymer.
Around three inches is the everyday carry sweet spot – long enough for boxes, cord, food prep and general utility, short enough to disappear in a pocket.
Carry laws are set locally as well as by state, and a 2.94" blade is legal to carry in many places and not in others – check your state and city rules before you carry it. Knives ship directly to you with no FFL transfer and no background check, unlike a firearm. Keep the blade dry and the pivot clean, and touch the edge up on a strop or fine stone before it gets properly dull – it is far less work than bringing back a blunt edge.
The Meadowlark 2 has a full-flat-ground blade for enhanced edge geometry and cutting performance, a Bi-Directional Textured FRN handle that offers a superior grip and increased control and phosphor bronze pivot washers for even smoother blade operation. Its also features spine and choil jimping for precise control during use and a four-position clip that supports all possible carry configurations.
