This sits in the sweet spot for defensive use: enough output to dominate a room or a yard, without the wash-back that very high output causes in tight spaces. Peak intensity is quoted at 0 candela, which is the figure that actually determines how far the beam throws – lumens tell you total output, candela tell you reach.

CR123A cells hold their charge for years on a shelf, which is why they remain the default for a light that sits unused until it is needed. Confirm it fits your rail and that you can reach the switch with your normal firing grip before committing to it – a light you cannot activate under stress is worse than no light. Lights ship directly to you with no FFL transfer.
