Description

The Smith & Wesson / S&W M&P 9 Shield X is a semi-auto in 9mm with a 3.6" barrel, a 1:10 twist and 10-round capacity plus one chambered.

A barrel this short keeps the pistol easy to conceal and carry, at the cost of some velocity and a shorter sight radius. It comes with a lumigreen front sight and a black rear sight. The slide is cut for a red dot on the RMSc footprint, so an optic mounts without machining. The optic itself is bought separately, and it needs to match that footprint or use a plate that adapts to it.

The 9mm is commonly chosen for range practice, competition and carry. The most widely available centerfire handgun round, which keeps practice affordable and ammunition easy to find.
