Description

The Smith & Wesson Performance Ctr M&P 15 AXE is a semi-auto in .223 REM/5.56 NATO with a 16.1" barrel, a 1:8 twist and 30-round capacity.

A carbine-length barrel keeps the rifle maneuverable, trading some velocity for handling. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with. It comes with m&p tactical folding sights.

The .223 REM is commonly chosen for varmints, predators and target work. Cheap, widely available and light on recoil, which makes it an easy cartridge to shoot well.
