The blade is 440C SS, a classic American stainless that resists corrosion strongly and sharpens readily, with moderate edge retention. A serrated edge bites into rope, webbing and fibrous material far better than a plain edge, and stays aggressive long after a plain edge has dulled. Stainless scales are durable and easy to clean, though heavier than polymer.
A blade in this range handles heavier everyday tasks and light outdoor work while still carrying comfortably clipped in a pocket.
Carry laws are set locally as well as by state, and a 3.5" blade is legal to carry in many places and not in others – check your state and city rules before you carry it. Knives ship directly to you with no FFL transfer and no background check, unlike a firearm. Keep the blade dry and the pivot clean, and touch the edge up on a strop or fine stone before it gets properly dull – it is far less work than bringing back a blunt edge.
Templar out the front (OTF) knives feature a double action mechanism that is reliable when you need it. All of our knives also have a built-in safety feature. If the blade meets any resistance before locking out it will stop. The blade can be re-set by pulling it to the locked position. Once this is done the knife is back in operation.
