Description
The Trijicon AccuPoint is a 3-9x riflescope with a 40mm objective on a 1 inch tube. The reticle is in the second focal plane.
This range covers the distances most hunting shots are taken at, and keeps a usable field of view at the bottom end for a close or moving animal.
Second focal plane: the reticle stays the same visual size at every magnification, which keeps it easy to see at low power. Its subtensions are only correct at one magnification, usually the maximum, so holds taken at another power have to be adjusted.
A 1 inch tube is the traditional size and keeps the scope light, with less internal room for elevation travel than a larger tube. Rings must be 1 inch.
The 40mm objective sets how much light the scope can gather and how tall the rings need to be to clear the bell.
Eye relief is listed at 3.20" – 3.60" – the distance the eye sits behind the ocular to see the full picture, which is what has to be respected when positioning the scope in the rings.
