The Volquartsen M&P 15-22 is a bolt component.
The bolt locks the cartridge into the chamber and holds it there against firing pressure. It is the single most highly stressed part of the action.

Fitting a bolt or bolt head means checking headspace with gauges. That is gunsmithing, not a drop-in job, and it is not optional.
