Description
The Weatherby Vanguard Badlands is a bolt action rifle in .308 / 7.62 NATO with a 22" barrel, a 1:10 twist and 4-round capacity plus one chambered.
This barrel length is the usual compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while still being manageable to carry all day, and short enough that a suppressor on the end does not make it unwieldy. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with. It ships without iron sights, so plan on an optic and a way to mount it: a red dot or holographic sits on a rail, a scope needs rings and a base, and a rifle with neither needs a mount first.
The .308 is commonly chosen for hunting, target shooting and general use. Probably the most versatile centerfire cartridge available – ammunition is everywhere, and it handles most North American game.
The Vanguard Badlands is the first production rifle to appear in the popular Badlands Approach camo. The Approach pattern uses adaptive coloration to construct a neutral color palette that adapts to your surrounds and lighting conditions. It contains multi-layers visual confusion to ensure that the eye cannot detect where one shape ends and another begins. Features a Vanguard #2 contour barrel; adjustable Match two-stage trigger; 3-position safety; fluted bolt body; hinged floorplate and a Monte Carlo stock with a raised comb.
