WINCHESTER MODEL 70 EXTREME – TUNGSTEN 308WIN 22″ SYN/MB

Description

The Winchester Model 70 Extreme is a bolt action rifle in .308 / 7.62 NATO with a 22″ barrel, a 1:12 twist and 5-round capacity plus one chambered.

This barrel length is the usual compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge’s velocity while still being manageable to carry all day, and short enough that a suppressor on the end does not make it unwieldy. That is slower than the usual twist for this cartridge, so it favors lighter bullets; very heavy projectiles may not stabilize. It ships without iron sights, so plan on an optic and a way to mount it: a red dot or holographic sits on a rail, a scope needs rings and a base, and a rifle with neither needs a mount first.

The .308 is commonly chosen for hunting, target shooting and general use. Probably the most versatile centerfire cartridge available – ammunition is everywhere, and it handles most North American game.
