This is a jam nut from Yankee Hill Machine.
A jam nut locks a threaded muzzle device against the barrel shoulder so it cannot back off under recoil, and it lets the device be timed – rotated to a chosen clock position and then held there.
It is a wear part and a consumable. Nuts are cut for one thread pitch and are not interchangeable between them.
