The Geissele Freedom Rifle Recce MOD1 is built around 6mm ARC rather than adapted to it. The cartridge sits between small-frame and large-frame platforms – the reach and ballistic coefficient of a larger round without the weight of a large-frame rifle – and the rifle was designed around feeding and extracting it reliably.
A magazine release sits on the left of the receiver below the Maritime Bolt Catch for left-handed reloads. On the right, bolt catch and release buttons sit below the ejection port: the dust cover applies pressure to the bolt catch to lock the bolt open, and a release button just behind it sends the bolt forward. The layout works from either side rather than merely tolerating a left-handed shooter.
The barrel is cold hammer forged and chrome lined in-house. The Nanoweapon-coated Reliability Enhanced BCG uses a forged Carpenter 158+ bolt. Geissele’s patented Phased Array gas technology is intended to smooth the recoil impulse and shorten target reacquisition.
Nanoweapon, also known as Picatinny DSL, is a durable solid lubricant coating developed by ARDEC and available exclusively from Geissele. It is applied at low temperature so the part’s metallurgy is unaffected, and its surface hardness is roughly that of synthetic diamond – harder than sand, which is what lets it shed carbon and run with less lubrication.

In the box
- One 8-round Geissele ICM magazine
Before you buy
- Geissele ICM magazines are also available in 15, 20 and 30 round capacities.
- The 14.5″ barrel carries a permanently pinned and welded muzzle device, which makes the device integral to the barrel so it meets the 16″ minimum length. Removing or modifying it converts the rifle into an item regulated under the National Firearms Act.
A note on finish. Geissele use Type 3 Hardcoat Anodize, which means there is no exact color matching between parts and some shade variation is normal. Two parts bought at different times can differ slightly. More on anodize shade variation and finish methods.
Geissele builds to order rather than holding reseller stock. Firearms, uppers, barrels and bolts carry a factory lead time of roughly 15 to 25 weeks depending on the product — please order with that timeline in mind. Some orders ship sooner. We confirm timing when your order is placed — see our backorder policy.
Suppressor ready
This rifle ships with a HUXWRX Flash Hider-QD, which is an approved HUXWRX mount. A HUXWRX FLOW suppressor mounts to it directly – no adapter to buy, and the suppressor warranty stays intact. HUXWRX only warranty their suppressors when mounted on approved hardware.
